Why do we worry

I went this morning and had some tests done. I had to have an endoscopy of my stomach. I know there is a term for it, but I do not know what it is. I have known for a couple days that I had to have it done. I did not really worry about it until last night. I read the brochure. Not really a big deal. Then I started to really just think about it. They want to do WHAT? I do not like to go to the dentist let alone have a big camera ran down my throat. In the brochure it says you are sedated , but you also have to swallow the tube. All I could do was think about how can I be awake enough to swallow something I do not want to and also be sedated. I could not sleep all night.

This morning I got up to go have the test. I was so nauseas that I did not want to go. I went early so I could get it over with. The problem with going so early is the Dr. was not even there yet. Now I have to lay in the bed feeling like crap. The nurses were very polite and understanding of my fear. They kept telling me that there was nothing to it. This does help a little. Before I knew it the Dr. is asking me questions. The nurse comes in and started talking about signing some forms. I knew it was almost time to get started.

The nurse says here put this in your mouth and role on your side. Just about the time I start to say hang on....... I am waking up. The nurse says how are you feeling. I tell her I feel fine. She says here is your jacket you can go home now. I was just wondering why we get so worked up even though we know there is nothing to it. Am I the only one that does this or is this normal? If there are so many of us out here with this, why cant we find a way to overcome it.
